ABOUT ANDREW HAYES

Andrew Hayes is a lifelong resident of the 75th Assembly District in East County San Diego.

A graduate of El Capitan High School, Hayes went on to earn two bachelor’s degrees from the University of San Diego. Upon graduation, Hayes chose to serve his community, working as a legislative aide for former California State Senator Joel Anderson and eventually becoming District Director for Senator Brian Jones.

A product of Lakeside schools, Hayes learned the value of a great education from an early age. So when he saw school districts putting ideology before education and failing our kids, Hayes stepped up and ran for school board in his hometown.

Hayes was first elected to the Lakeside Union School District Board of Trustees in 2018 and quickly became a leader in local education. Now serving as President of the Board, he has worked to improve the mental health of school kids, support parents and teachers, and defeated a $66 million tax increase.

“I’ll stand up against the career politicians in Sacramento to stop tax hikes, lower water and energy bills, improve public safety, and ensure parents have a say in their kids’ education,” said Andrew Hayes.

For Hayes, community involvement isn’t just a talking point – it’s a lifelong commitment. Hayes is a member of the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club, Lakeside Kiwanis, Lakeside Historical Society, and Lakeside Friends of the Library.
